The Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) is a federally funded grant program that puts NYCOM in a unique position to open doors of opportunity for educationally and/or economically disadvantaged students interested in seeking entry into American Health Care professions.

NYCOM currently has a track record of producing primary care physicians who practice in the most underserved areas of the state.  HCOP funding will permit substantial expansion and critical additions for continuing a pipeline with retention programs. 

HCOP will ultimately increase the number of economically and educationally disadvantaged students who can successfully enter the health professions in our region.  HCOP will prepare diverse students from disadvantaged backgrounds to address the current and future demands of health care for this fast growing population.
