NYIT-Vancouver Professional Enrichment Workshop: The Art of Conversation

Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology Department

Message From The Chairs

The primary objectives of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology curriculum are to prepare our graduates to practice electrical and computer engineering technology with skills consistent with the requirements of today's electrical and computer engineering technology environment.

Our program responds to the growing need for engineering technologists who have computer hardware and software skills and gives our graduates a competitive advantage in the job market. Practical applications of scientific theory and principles, analysis, laboratory skills, design and development are stressed, preparing students to immediately participate in the numerous careers open to trained engineering technologists.

Demand for the graduates of this program is at an all-time high with graduates finding employment in industry as well as government agencies. Students enrolled in the program are provided with broad-based coursework consisting of an integrated synthesis of electronics technologies and computer technologies. Our up-to-date laboratory facilities provide practical experience and enables the student to verify the principles and theory as presented in the classroom.

The program, accredited by the Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), meets the requirements for electrical and computer engineering technology. Our faculty have advanced degrees in computer and electrical related areas and generally have either worked in industry or have ongoing relations therewith. This mix is appropriate and offers the student an exposure to a staff well versed in the practical and theoretical aspects of their respective subject areas.
