We welcome opportunities to assist with news articles and stories that help to advance the college’s mission. We have instituted guidelines for the media and NYIT faculty, staff, and students (see below)  that will facilitate the dissemination of important news. In addition, we actively participate in and support the Fair Media Council in its efforts to ensure fair and accurate news reporting and communication by the media.

Media

To maintain productive interaction with the media, NYIT has established the following guidelines:

• Reporters, editors, and others in the media who wish to interview members of the NYIT community should contact the Office of Communications and Marketing at  516.686.4013 or email mediarelations@nyit.edu. Our goal is to expedite your request and direct your query to an NYIT expert or spokesperson for quick response.
• Should you require access to one of our campuses, contact the Office of Communications and Marketing for authorization. A member of our staff will escort you and your associates, including film crews, and photographers, while on site.
• Please be aware that any use of still or video photography filmed on campus for commercial profit or distribution must be reviewed and approved in advance by the Office of Communications and Marketing. The use of still or video images from the campus for advocacy of political positions or candidacies is strictly prohibited. 
• Access to residence halls is prohibited without prior permission of the Office of Communications and Marketing. 
• In compliance with privacy laws, faculty, staff, and students who agree to be interviewed or filmed will be required to complete a media release.

NYIT Media Sources

We encourage members of the NYIT community to be resources for the media. If you would like to be added to the NYIT Communications and Marketing list of experts, please email your contact information and topic/area of expertise to mediarelations@nyit.edu. We also request that you contact us if you are approached by any member of the media and that you seek our assistance with NYIT facts that you provide to media sources. Please contact us IMMEDIATELY if a media source contacts you. If you have a story or topic related to NYIT that you need publicized, we are happy to assist you.
